Ogrish Movie (Trailer)

We have split the atom, we have discovered the stars and walked on the moon, but one thing still remains, burning our feet and tantalizing our inquisitive nature: Why do we die?

OGRISH THE MOVIE is an independent documentary exploring the underbelly of the internet, where real videos of death and suicide have become a form of uncensored news and is considered by some a new breed of entertainment.
Ogrish was the name of an immensely popular alternative news source which specialized in hosting gore videos, images and articles. The website came under numerous attacks for its content yet there was a definite demand and place on the internet for websites such as these. With millions searching online for videos of Saddam Hussein being hung as recently as 2006, and with gore footage still uploaded by users onto video streaming websites such as YouTube, one can only speculate at how widespread this taste for death reaches.
The documentary uncovers the extraordinary lives of the people involved within the online community dedicated to bringing uncensored news to the public domain. It explores the real life aspects of an uncensored medium by interviewing professionals of a social and psychological background as well as those who did everything they could to stop it. It's a fascinating depiction exploring the gritty realities that come with access to the World Wide Web. Didn't everyone who logged on just want to "uncover reality," like the slogan said, or is the truth too much for us to bear?
